Blundering Idiots

One of the benefits (ha) of living in the South must be all the nature. Or as we call it, Road Kill. It's like a natural wild-live preserve out there, but without all the preservation. It is truly one of the most disgusting things to me to have to drive over it. I take great aim to make sure that my tires don't touch it. And I am also very careful not to breathe (especially with my mouth open)(GROSS!) when driving over the carcasses.

Dear Mr. Opposum(s) and Armadillo(s) of the night,
Can you not cross the road in a more speedy fashion? Oh sure, your family will probably miss you if you don't return from your overnight huntin' trip, but think of the people! Looking at your body plastered all over the road like a biology project is just nasty.
Also, please tell your friends.
Thank you for your cooperation in this matter.
Sincerely and Amen.

"Sincerely and Amen" I may begin signing everything that way ;)

No armadillos up here, mostly dead raccoons and skunks and some opossums. Lovely.

May I add a comment for Mr Opossum? By the way...the first direction you picked was the correct one. Left or right, just pick one and stick with it. Indecision kills.

I know what you mean Jodie. I end up holding my breath most of the way to work. Its like an abstacle course out there.

Greg: Yes, you may indeed address the 'possum. I love it. Indecision kills. :)

I know...yuck! I saw two dead squirrels on the street in my neighborhood this morning. I thought....oh, poor little squirrels! Could this be coincidence.....or sabotage?

I don't see HALF the roadkill here that I saw in Texas...

Maybe that's because once they get hit, they roll down the cliff and into the trees on either side of the road!

what's even better (or worse?) is that we actually know people who aim to kill such animals...then take them home to eat them!!! ARGHHH!! now THAT'S nasty!! I'm grossing myself out just thinking about it! :P

"Indecision Kills" would be a great title for a sermon. Fish or cut bait! Indiana has its share of road kill, too. I've posted about it before. Ooh, I just literally got goosebumps because I've been on this subject too long already.

I passed a possum this morning that was well on his/her way to roadkill. I couldn't tell if it had already been hit of if it was just sick. But it was sitting in the middle of the road. Just a-waitin' - like it had a death wish. I half expected to see a note lying on the ground beside it to it's family. "I just couldn't take the stress of life any longer."

My daughter wanted to stop and help it.

Uh. No.
